Fine Nuno Felted Wearable Art
Company Ltd
Contemporary Felt Artist, Designer, Teacher and Felt Maker of Fine Wearable Art
My name is Cynthia Soboti. I am a self taught fiber artist
working with a combination of knit, crochet, felting, hand
painted silk, Scrumble design and beading. I have fun
and enjoy what I do-  The fiber I use is mostly Merino
wool with some Bluefaced Leicester, silk, bamboo and
other bits and pieces of Sari Silk. Fun things. I use
natural and chemical dyes on the wool and silk-Color is
so important-vibrant and muted values co-mingle to form
an exciting palette from which I can create beautiful
pieces of wearable art. Each piece is a one of a kind-
some may be similar but never the same.
The colors of nature have always excited me-a beautiful
salmon rose, the depth of purple in a pansy and in early
spring, the fabulous array of color in my prized giant Iris
collection-I find much of the inspiration to create my
wearable art from my garden. When I dye fiber to spin
with-the girls(flowers)in my garden lead the way to
wonderful color combinations. I also use fiber and yarn
from other sources to compliment my own. I have
recently started working with the creation of jewelry. I am
working with a technique called Repousse and
Chasing-Repousse or repoussage is a metalworking
technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or
shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a
design in low relief. Chasing is the opposite technique to
repousse and the two are used in conjunction to create a
finished piece. It is also know as embossing. I use beads
and crystals to embellish the final piece-This gives me
unlimited creative design ability. I also wire wrap stones
and use the Kumihimo beading technique on many of my
pieces. Please visit me often as I am constantly adding
new selections as I finish them.
